Here are the Sectors Still Recruiting Staff

12 Apr 2023

There are reports out there which state 700,000 UK jobs have been lost due to the pandemic. But, despite these worrying numbers, there are sectors which are trading safely and healthily, with targets to expand and capitalise on their successes over the past 12 months.

There have been many small local success stories with people selling homemade masks and bakers selling afternoon teas to local people. Many high-end hotels and restaurants have added takeaway food collection to their list of services to help to tide them over when they can’t have guests.

The numbers of people who have lost their jobs are very worrying but there are also many more job vacancies than we can remember seeing for a long time, so it may be that most of the people who have lost their jobs can find something again soon that will be suitable for them.

On that note, let’s take a look at the sectors that are still recruiting for workers across the UK:

●     Accounting and Finance - from junior Finance Assistants to Financial Controllers

●     Automotive - from Apprentice Mechanics to Dealership Managers. Many people’s cars haven’t been driven in earnest for months now, so when they get going again, the dealerships are going to want to offer upgrades.

●     Education - from high school teacher to curriculum managers, there are vacancies to fill in the Education sector. Nursery school care is also in desperate need of more workers to allow them to look after the children of essential workers.

●     Healthcare and Nursing - unsurprising there are countless roles to fill in this sector. It has been the hardest hit during the pandemic as they have been front-line workers in the fight against Covid-19 and it has been very dangerous for them.

●     Public Sector roles - a sector which has seen a need for more staff since the pandemic in order to administer many of the support schemes and ensure that vulnerable people are getting enough to eat.

●     Transport and Logistics - making sure food, supplies and equipment is still delivered UK-wide. We cannot overestimate the importance of the transport and logistics sector to the continuation of as normal a version of life as we can manage during Covid. Without the hard work of people in this sector we would all be struggling for supplies.

Not seen the sector you'd hoped for? Click here to search across thousands of jobs, and see what we have to offer!

We know that employment has changed for many people since March 2020, and it's a challenge to find new work given the restrictions in place. However, if you see a vacancy for a job you know you'll love, then apply! Employers are still recruiting, they are interviewing by video, and jobs are still being offered. Don't miss your chance!

Try not to lose hope despite the difficult times we are living through. We will come through the other side of the pandemic and life will begin to return to normal again. It may take some time but we will get there.
