Position: Site Technical Manager

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset

Salary: Up to £80,000 + £7000 car allowance + 15% bonus

This role is a 5 day a week site based role

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen with an independent and globally operating FMCG Manufacturing company at their flagship site in Somerset.

Are you a Site Technical Manager looking to be responsible for the delivery and improvement of site technical and quality performance matrices and standards, across a large complex site? Are you a strong leader who has contributed to strategic plans and developments? Do you feel you are good with coaching and developing the site quality team?

The site:

Join a fast paced, complex and welcoming manufacturing facility with a headcount of just over 650 people. There is a drive to improve culture on site and promotion of positive behaviours. Looking forward to 2024, many projects are planned, a capex investment to ensure the site is future fit.

 

Role responsibilities:

 

- Ensure the site is safe, legally compliant, meeting all internal and external standards including delivering excellent audit results from a food safety perspective.

- Lead your site quality team, developing, coaching, and empowering to take them from 'good to great'.

- Leading the site quality agenda, engaging all colleagues in quality, increasing their knowledge of processes and best practice.

- Ensure your team work in close collaboration with the central Product Development team.

- Act as the lead and 'guardian' of BRC, HACCP, auditing, product launch and retailer codes of practice.

- Building great relationships and communication with external customer food technical and quality teams.

- Effective value engineering implementation via active change control and operational support on technical matters and innovative technologies.

- Reporting internal KPIs to the site management team.

- Ensure quality monitoring and testing systems including micro and food safety are in place.

- Lead the site customer complaints process.

- Leading the product/packaging implementation technologists and operational teams to ensure that the launch and trial of new products is completed in a timely manner, meeting food safety, legal and customer requirements and that process changes are evaluated, risk assessed, validated and documented.

 

Essential experience and requirements:

- FMCG experience within Food or Drink. Dairy liquid processing would be desirable

- A degree in a Science or Food Technology is preferred or 5+ years industry experience in a similar technical/quality role.

- In depth knowledge of BRC and HACCP standards

- Experience of internal and external audits

- Experience of working in a fast paced manufacturer, working with multiple sku’s

- Professional Quality and Technical expert who is proactive, confident, and engaging.

- Someone who has drive and passion

- A true leader and role model to help develop the Site Quality team
