Role Purpose 

1. To support residents in temporary accommodation to secure alternative, suitable and affordable accommodation.

2. To act as a key point for residents experiencing homelessness to match them to accommodation available. Ensuring objective, targets and quality standards are met whilst meeting high levels of customer service.

3. To assist households out of costly temporary accommodation into alternative suitable and affordable accommodation, preventing, relieving and ending homelessness and making decisions on resident’s suitability and affordability.

Responsibilities 

• To provide the main point of contact to temporary accommodation applicants and providers

• Ensure all casework and housing data is accurately recorded on notes and IT systems.

• Ensure all housing meets required national and local standards and compliance.

• Ensure all homelessness casework is delivered in line with the statutory homelessness framework.

• Ensure the provision of accurate and relevant housing, welfare, homelessness advice and support Any other duties reasonably requested by management.

• Carry out all accountabilities in compliance with the Council’s Policies and Procedures

• To ensure the effective implementation of safeguarding policies and practices • To provide and support temporary accommodation residents to make informed housing resolution choices tenants.

• To support temporary accommodation residents to move-on from temporary accommodation into the private rented sector or other housing. 

Requirements

1. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Council policies in relation to Equal Opportunity, Customer Care and service delivery, and the ability to implement these policies in the workplace.

2. Able to work to conflicting deadlines without direct supervision and able to manage time and resources efficiently.

3. Significant knowledge and experience of delivering excellent customer service within a local authority housing and/or homelessness service.

4. Significant knowledge and experience of working in partnership to improve outcomes for homelessness applicants and their households.

5. Significant knowledge and experience of the management of temporary accommodation teams and schemes 6. Significant knowledge and experience of the implementation of the statutory homelessness framework (Legislation, Suitability Order, Caselaw), including assessments, prevention, relief and main duties, TA duties and accommodation offers

Contract 

- Initial 6 month ongoing contract with the opportunity to extend 

- PAYE via Umbrella 

- Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (Min 2 days p/w in office/site visits)
